Sash window panels being recycled as garden cloches for frost and rain protection over perpetual spinach, North Wales, UK

Old sash window panels being recycled as garden cloches by fastening two panels together with hinges to create a tent shape. They are protecting a row of overwintering perpetual spinach against frost and rain damage. The unkempt vegetable plot has been left uncultivated and unattended since autumn while the ground is too wet to work. The weeds and grass have grown strongly due to the mild winter, and will now prove hard work to dig in or clear. In the background are six, vintage, low barn cloches made with wire frames and glass panels. Photographed after heavy hoar frost.
