In November 1862, Union troops rebuilt the bridge over Potomac Creek, near Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Confederates had destroyed the bridges in the area and much of the track. The bridges were rebuilt of wood. The bridge across Potomac Creek, pictured here, was 400 feet long and 90 feet above the water. The two stone piers were the remains of the old bridge.
