Sodium hydroxide added to iron II sulfate. The precipitate of this transition metal ion is a dark green. A precipitate may be formed when a few drops of sodium hydroxide are added to a solution of a metal compound. The result is solid iron ii hydroxide in a colourless solution of sodium sulfate.
