A mass of low, drifting cloudscovers the sky, showing only a few spots of blue near the upper part of the picture,and the buildings of the town, the beach and various objects are warmly illumi-nated by the sunlight which falls strongly upon the landscape from the left. Across tlie fore-ground extends a rich pasture broken bj^ hillocks and clumps of luxuriantly grow-ing verdure, and in the immediate foreground on the right is a small pool of pasture slopes gently upward to the middle distance under scattered trees,which, with full foliage, extend in rounded masses against the skj^ sloping indiminishing perspective from the upper left to the distance; cows, scattered overthe pasture, are feeding on the rich grass, some of them in light and some of themin the shadows.
