He chose his scripture reading formthe book of Jeremiah, reading fromthe 18th chapter. Jeremiah was the son of Hilkiahand was a priest. One day the Lordspoke to him, and told him that hewanted him to be a prophet, butJeremiah told the Lord that he couldnot speak, for he was like a the Lord said to him, Say not,that you are a child, for you shall goto all that I shall send you, and what-soever I command you, that shall youdo, So God chose Jeremiah as a pro-phet and appeared to him three timesin visions to see if he would do whatHe had ask of him. Jeremiah felt God was displeasedwith the way that the people in Israelwere acting, and he went to Israel totalk to the people about God.
