CORONARY ATHEROSCLEROSIS
Atherosclerosis is an ailment affecting the arteries, which are sclerosed (there is hardening of the tissues) and atheromatous (containing plaques composed of fat cells and crystals of cholesterol). This all reduces the diameter of the arteries, and therefore slows down blood circulation. Coronary atherosclerosis is when atherosclerosis affects the coronary vessels.
