Fluorescence molecular imaging system. This computer monitor is displaying results from the Olympus OV110. The OV110 is an imaging system that allows high-sensitivity, high-speed imaging from individual cells to entire small animals, through the use of fluorescent markers. An animal, such as a mouse, can be anaesthetised with isoflurane and kept at a constant temperature within the microscopy housing unit. It has a zoom range of 105x and fluorescent imaging of the entire body, of organs, tissues or of individual cells can be conducted without disturbing the animal. The system requires a short exposure time and there are a variety of methods to label tissues, such as using fluorescent proteins or fluorescent probes.
