The Australian Moreton Bay fig tree (Ficus macrophylla ) is recognised for its massive buttress roots known as plank roots and sprawling canopy in the Rainforest area near Swan Lake in the Botanic Gardens in Singapore. The buttress root spreads out like giant tentacles. Also, the roots can be human height or taller while the trees are believed to be up to 200 years old.
