A 19th Century view of the Deanery and Winchester Cathedral in Hampshire, England. Founded in 642 it became part of a monastic settlement in 971. Dedicated to the Holy Trinity, Saint Peter, Saint Paul and, before the Reformation, Saint Swithin,it is the seat of the Bishop of Winchester and one of the largest cathedrals in Europe, with the greatest overall length of any Gothic cathedral.
