The shape is that of a rectangular box with corners slightly rounded. The commutator carries two brushes. The armature is of the laminated drum type wound with machine made insulated coilslaid in longitudinal slots cut in the circumference. The armature core is composed of thin sheet iron discs held together by pressureof thrust plates upon the shaft,and ventilated by means of holes extending longi-tudinally through it.
