Largo da Portagem, Coimbra, Portugal, 2009. Artist: Samuel Magal

Largo da Portagem, Coimbra, Portugal. The statue is of Joaquim Antonio de Aguiar, Prime Minister of Portugal on three occasions (1841-1842, 1860, 1865-1868), who was born in Coimbra. The square is just opposite the Santa Clara Bridge and the name means place of the gateway, presumably a gateway to the main city.
