Carey's American pocket atlas ; containing twenty a brief description of each state, and of Louisiana: also, the census of the inhabitants of the United States, for 1801 and The exports from the United States for ten years . urisdiction of Massachusetts, buthad a separate legislature. In every stage of the oppo-sition made to the encroachment of the British Parlia-ment, the people, who ever retained a high sense of li-berty, cheerfully bore their part. They flew eagerly tothe American standard, when the voice of their coun-try declared for war: and their troops had a large shareof the hazard and fatigue, as well as of the glory, ofaccomplishing the Revolution. This state, at present, is increasing very rapidly innumbers, wealth, and respectability. Its resources forthe support of government are such as will, with prudentmanagement, effectually preclude the necessity of heavypublic taxes. The state is advancing, with circumspec-tion, in a liberal policy, and is, in general, in a moreflourishing situation, than at any former period. The history of this state has been written and publish-ed in three volumes, by the Rev. Jeremy Belknap, D* Boston. .5-Zo„,,r Q//.:.://. JJ li O VIJVCEMA I Ar E.
