Did you ever stop to think that you cannot vilify or be sarcastic when you "Say It with Flowers"? If you think that you can, try it on some known enemy, and instead of widening the breach you will soon find the dove of peace hovering about, bearing with it the olive branch. Even at a Prize Fight. Only recently I was in the company of a publicity expert, trying to get some concession from the window dresser of a large department store. My friend was driving home arguments that the window dresser could not gainsay; yet the latter did not want to grant our re- quest. Finally he said, "What can you say with your slogan, anywayt" My friend replied: "I will answer that question by asking one. What can we not sayf" Now, there is no doubt that this win- dow dresser was trying to think of an extreme case. "Well," he replied, "how would you say it at a prize fight?" I will confess that I thought we were stumped, but my friend, the publicity man, answered, "If, after Jack Demp- scy's last great battle, some loved one had presented him with a basket of roses, don't you think his heart would have been touched?" The window dresser smiled and said, "You win. Even a prize fighter is human after ; We got our concession. But it seems a sacrilege to speak of
