The passing of gladioli and asters is one reason and the ex- tremely cool weather here was not good for dahlias and cosmos. The cool weather is good in one re- spect, which is for keeping the dahlias. The ones that are arriving are in good condition, which means the retailer will receive few complaints as to their keep- ing. The price of dahlias is holding up as yet, some selling as high as $10 per hun- dred, which is considered a high price here. Boses are scarce and not the best. This is thought to be due, in part, to the rose midge. Carnations have shown a great improvement and are moving readily at $4 to $5 per hundred. Lilies have been scarce and some of the growers who have a few want a guarantee of $25 per hundred for them before sending them in. Some late Shasta daisies arrived and found a ready market, as did some extra choice calendulas. Delphinium is arriving regularly antt cleaning up well. Strawflowers are finding ready sales, as they can be used for either natural or artificial work. Mums are arriving more steadily and some fancy bronze ones were offered at $4 per dozen. They found a ready market. The season's first pompons arrived last week and, as usual, went well. Various Notes. Among Cincinnati's representatives at the F. T. D. convention this week are H. W.
