The Pharisee and the parable of the Pharisee and the tollenaar, presented in three scenes. In the middle, the Pharisee kneel for the altar, left the haughty Pharisee with a devil leaves the temple, right the tollenaar leaves the temple with an angel. The canvas is part of a series of parables painted for the Lutheran church in Leiden (see also NRS. SK-A-2958 and SK-A-2960).
