A Fijian traditional handmade wooden mask mounted on a wooden base on sale at a tourist souvenir shop in Sigatoka, a provincial town on the south side of Viti Levu, the largest island in Fiji in the South Pacific. The town is at the mouth of the Sigatoka River, after which it is named. Much of Fiji's arts and crafts are a reflection of the country's Polynesian and Melanesian heritage. Most wooden items are made by local craftsmen who deal mainly in woodcarving whilst the women, produce pottery and other items such as jewelry.
