The very 1st actual Ascot gold cup trophy, designed and manufactured by the House of Garrard in 1842. It was won in that year by Beeswing (1833–1854) a 19th-century British Thoroughbred racehorse from the north of England, considered in her time as the greatest mare in Britain and one of the greatest of all time Her Jockey was D Cartwright (owner William Orde). The event was established in 1807.
