This procedure has been in use formany years by the hydropaths for the following reasons: The flexibility and simplicity of the method especiallycommend it. It is probably the most flexible hydriaticmeasure known. By wringing the sheet well out, or inusing a coarser sheet or a lower temperature, or for a shorttime, or by slapping with, instead of simply passing thehand over the wet sheet, the local excitation of the cutane-ous nerves and vessels will be enhanced. By saturatingit with more water the antithermic effect is increased,which may be still more intensified by more prolongedapplication and f
