From view may be had of the Olympic Mountains and of Mount Ranier, the grandest mountain in theUnited States. There are higher mountains than MountRanier, or Mount Tacoma (as the inhabitants of that cityare pleased to call it), but not one other lone peak thatrises so grandly alone from the level of the sea to such a. v^^ BIG TREES, CALIFORNIA. height. It is covered with a complete robe of snow fromthe line of green foot-hills to the top, where the steam of aslumbering volcano hovers over its crown.
