Onigi Hasami Rice Terraces - Curving their way up the mountain slopes, the terraced rice fields at Onigi Hasami Tanada are the result of local farmers’ efforts to make the best use of their land in this mountainous area. Water is of vital importance for plants and that includes rice so the rice terraces form an ecosystem and also protect the inhabitants of Hasami Nagasaki. The town is also famous for its pottery and ceramics. The rice terraces here have been named as one of “Japan’s 100 Best Terraced Rice Fields”.
