A 19th Century view of harvesting on a Kansas farm. Known as the "Wheat State" and "Breadbasket of the World," farming has been a way of life in Kansas, USA. In 1880, technology appeared with the reaping-machine leaving wheat lying behind it. The self-raker drops it in convenient little bunches, ready for binding, the header clips off the tips and the stems and finally the self-binder finishes the process
