Found as a chance seedling in the Yellow Transparent orchard of Mr. Wrixham McIIvain near Magnolia, Dela- ware about 1920. Mr. McIIvain after several years' observation, de- termined the variety to be superior in every way to the Transparent and grafted 'over his Transparent orchard to this variety. The 2nd generation orchard now 25 years of age has been producing heavy, crops for 20 years. A third generation orchard was planted in and began bearing at 4 years of age. The tree is more spreading than Transparent, vigorous and hardy in wood, not being subject to blight and other fungus diseases. The fruit averages large in size, being a little more flat in shape than Transparent and packing- out commercial sizes o? 2^4" and 2Y2''' at picking time. The Wrixparent ripens from 10 to 15 days before Yel- low Transparent and ripens its fruit evenly so that the entire crop may be harvested in two pickings if desired. It is an attractive l
