Notice & history of St Clydawg in the porch of Clodock Church, Herefordshire, England, UK, 16 August 1991. Traditionally founded around AD520 as the burial place of murdered British King St Clydawg. He was killed with a sword by a jealous love rival while out hunting. Oxen drawing his body on a cart refused to move after their yoke broke while crossing the local ford on the River Monnow, so a church & shrine were built a little N upstream. Miracles occurred at his tomb. Clydawg was king of Ewias (Ewyas) & a grandson of Brychan, King of Brecon. The present nave is C12th, the chancel & porch C13th, the W tower C15th.
