Modern tram on the turning loop, Spichernplatz, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Metro-tram Rheinbahn NF8U for Siemens Transportation Systems, 2006 The NF8U is the first low-floor metro-tram of the Rheinbahn AG and will be employed for underground and surface traffic. The one-direction vehicle in rear-to-rear traction serves as bidirectional vehicle. Hence the NF8U is equipped with doors, information displays and exterior lighting on either side of the tram. Characteristic design elements are the curved sides of the vehicles front module. These provide the space for the small-wheel-bogie, which is positioned below. The front is continuously tilted for the benefit of pedestrian safety and the position of an impact absorbing element. The homogeneous integration of functional components such as coupling cover, lighting or openings for maintenance support the clarity of the overall design. The design of the interior convinces by its spaciousness and consequence. This is accomplished by large-area RIM-panels and a consistent design line including the design of equipment components.
