The temporary tooth had been wired to its fellow sometime before the skiagraph was made, and the wire is plainly seen inthe picture. In this case the germ of the permanent tooth is want-ing. Without a skiagraph the dentist was at a loss to know whatcourse to take to give the child the benefit of correctly shaped teeth. X-RAY IN DENTISTRY 403 In cases of this kind the skiagraph is of the greatest possible diag-nostic value by preventing the dentist from making errors that oftenlead to distressing
