1919 cartoon caricatures of famous people of the time by artist Giovanni Viafora (USA) - ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL (1847-1922) . The Scottish-born inventor, scientist, and engineer is credited with inventing the first practical telephone. He was also the founder of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T). He was the 2nd president of the National Geographic Society and did much valuable work enabling deaf mutes to communicate, particularly at the Volta Bureau, dedicated to "the increase and diffusion of knowledge relating to the deaf".
