There was a secret tunnel under the tower from the Kremlin to the Moscow river to be used as an escape route in case of emergency. White buildings of the UK embassy to Russia (right of the tower). The embassy has now new buildings in another place. The huge gray residential building which is known as the House on Embankment. The house was built by Stalin's order for communist leaders in the 1930s. About 700 dwellers were later repressed, banished or killed. Now the house still is the prestigious place to live in. Far away, on top of Sparrow hills, you see the skyscraper of Moscow State University. On the straight, the distance to the university is about 8 km (5 miles). Then come Cathedral of Christ the Savior and Vodovzvodnaya (water pumping) tower.
