Widecombe Fair is a famous and very historic country fair, an agricultural/farming show that takes place every September in the village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, in Devon, southwest England. The fair is the origin of a historic and well known folk song about Widecombe Fair, which contained an 'Uncle Tom Cobley'. In homage to this, the man on the horse is playing the Uncle Tom Cobley character.
