Female Workers, GKN Sankey, Ettingshall, Wolverhampton, c 1930s. On the far left is Lily Davies (nee Goodier). They are wearing protective overalls. Founded by Joseph Sankey in Albert street, Bilston in about 1854, the company manufactured stamped and pressed hollow-ware, comprising frying pans, basins, bowls, milk pans, baking tins, tea kettles, shovels and other metal goods. They gradually expanded their business, opened the Bankfield Works in 1900 and two other workshops - in Ettingshall and Wellington.
