The peak of Illimani (6348 metres) from El Alto above, La Paz, Bolivia. La Paz and El Alto are critically short of water and will probably be the first capital city in the world that will have to be largely abandoned due to lack of water. It relies heavily on glacial meltwater from the surrounding Andean peaks, but as climate change causes the glaciers to melt, it is rapidly running short of water.
