'The large ocean paddle-wheel steamer Europa, one of the Cunard Company', was taken up by the conveyance of troops to the company of the Royal in the Europa, then lying in the Huskisson Dock, Liverpool; detachment of infantry from on board the steamer, which sailed that evening for whole of the 90th Light Infantry left the Royal Barracks, Dublin, for the railway to by a dense mass of people, whose frequent cheers drowned the music of the large assemblage of spectators was collected to witness their embarkation, and in a short time the whole of the 860 soldiers of the 90th Regiment were on board the transport, which sailed for the Crimea next morning'.
