Burrowing parrots (Cyanoliseus p. patagonus) gathering at dusk Balneario El Condor Patagonia province of Rio Negro Argentina
Burrowing parrots breeding pairs spent the night in the nests with their chicks (Drs Juan Masello Petra Quillfeldt personal communication) while non breeding individuals gather at dusk on the wires before flying to the village of El Condor to roost. There they sit shoulder to shoulder decorating the streets like necklaces strung from one pole to another. The next day they depart for their feeding grounds before dawn. Despite getting up at I was only just in time to see the last flocks disappearing in the direction of the Rio Negro. Distribution Central to South East Argentina.
