The amphibious raid is the final joint, and combined, training evolution of UNITAS LXIII where marines and navy personnel from 19 different countries combine their collective resources to conduct a ship-to-shore operation to seize a known objective. The culminating event celebrates the collective efforts regarding planning, preparation, and coordination among the partnered nations and illustrates the ethos of UNITAS. UNITAS, which is Latin for ‘unity,’ is the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that focuses on enhancing interoperability among multiple nations and joint forces during littoral and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and create new enduring relationships that promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the Southern Command’s area of responsibility.
