Fruit-culture; Fruit. 63 THE APPLE. Ladies' Sweeting. American. Calyx quite small, set in a narrow, shallow plaited basin; stalk half an inch long, in a shal- low cavity; flesh greenish white, exceedingly tender, juicy, crisp, delicious, sprightly, agreeably-perfumed flavor; keeps without shriv- eling or losing its flavor, till ; Lowell.
