Earthquake Damage around the village of Kaiapoi, New Zealand, after the magnitude earthquake on 10th September 2010. Damaged Railway lines.


Lots of liquefaction, surface cracks and fissures, damage to infrastructure. Over 800 homes and 300 commercial buildings - in the village - were damaged beyond repair or demolished due to the land being declared 'Red Zone', and hence not suitable for any future use for buildings. The Greendale Fault (near Darfield) slipped about 6m laterally and 1m vertically.
