Part of China's coast. False-colour satellite image of the coast in the north of Jiangsu province, China. The red and brown tones in the lower half of the frame denote extensive agriculture on the coastal plain. Note also the land reclamation evident on the coast. This plain is fed by several rivers, which carry sediments into the sea (pale blue). The town of Lianyungang is just below the coast to the left of centre. The pale colours in the upper left represent upland vegetation. The data for this image were gathered by the Landsat 5 satellite.
