Sergei Fyodorov's Entire Iconostasis at Winchester Cathedral


Sergei Fyodorov's iconostasis installed in the C14th retroquire filling spaces left originally by Cromwell's soldiers when they ransacked the cathedral during the English Civil War. These figures created in Russian orthodox style were installed from 1992. Beneath the Icons the Holy Hole is visible & was used by pilgrims to crawl beneath and lie close to the healing relics (mortal remains) of St Swithun later destroyed by HenryVIIIs Commission for Destruction of Shrines
