Bronze sculptures by Jim Gion at the Japanese American Historical Plaza Tom McCall Waterfront Park Portland Oregon
Two bronze sculptures by Jim Gion mark the entrance of the Japanese American Historical Plaza at Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland Oregon. The sculptures show, in bas-relief, the history of the Japanese and their descendants beginning with their immigration in 1880. The award-winning plaza, designed by renowned landscape architect Robert Murase, commemorates that history and tells the story of their unlawful incarceration and internment during World War II.
