Zhores Medvedev (b. 1925), Soviet biologist and dissident historian. Medvedev studied protein biosynthesis and the physiology of the ageing process. In the 1960s he wrote a number of books aimed at discrediting the pseudoscience of Soviet biology. This resulted in harassment from the KGB and an enforced stay in a mental hospital. While visiting the National Institute for Medical Research in London, UK, Medvedev was striped of his Soviet citizenship. He remained in the UK, and wrote several books on Soviet science and presidents, and nuclear disasters in the USSR, and .
