Harry 'Brusher' Mills (1840-1905) who was an old adder (viper) snake catcher in the New Forest, Hampshire, UK. . Harry lived as a hermit in the forest but became a celebrity who attracted visitors and artists to his home in a charcoal burner's hut at Sporelake Lawn near Brockenhurst. He made a living from ridding properties of snakes, selling snake-oil ointments and medicines, selling snake skeletons to tourists and supplying snakes as food for zoo animals. his nickname 'Brusher' came from the fact that he was employed to brush the local cricket pitch between matches.
