Aylmer Bourke Lambert (1761-1842), English botanist. Lambert was born at Bath and was educated at Hackney School and St. Mary Hall, Oxford. From boyhood he had been a collector, establishing a small museum before old enough to go to school. Lambert was one of the original fellows of the Linnean Society in 1788 and from 1796 served as vice-president, a position he held for the rest of his life. Lambert is best known for his work on conifers, publishing his work on the genus Pinus in 1803-24.
