Three Cosmetic Vessels, Middle Kingdom, late Dynasty 12–early 13, ca. 1850–1775 , From Egypt, Northern Upper Egypt, Abydos, Cemetery V, Tomb V21, Egypt Exploration Fund excavations, 1904, Anhydrite, , b: H. cm (2 1/8 in.); Diam. cm (1 5/8 in.);H. cm (3 5/16 in.); Diam. cm (2 1/2 in.); : H. cm (1 5/16 in.); Diam. cm (3 13/16 in.), A light blue stone called anhydrite came into use during the Twelfth Dynasty. These three vessels were recovered in a tomb containing two burials, including that of a woman. The most elaborate has the form of a lidded jar for kohl eye makeup placed on a small table
