Ancient Egyptian deities. 16th-century artwork of gods and goddesses of Ancient Egypt, each carrying an ankh (key-of-life symbol) and sceptre. At upper left is a seated goddess with an Amun Crown facing the god of magic and medicine Heka (with the Hemhem Crown). At lower left is Thoth, the ibis-headed god of wisdom, with Sekhmet, the lioness warrior goddess. At upper right is Iusaaset (with horned vulture crown) facing Amun (double-plumed crown with sun disk). At lower right is the goddess Satet (Hedjet crown with antelope horns) facing a skull-capped god. This artwork is from 'Opera' (1580) by Dutch physician and linguist Jan Becan (1518-1572).
