. The Street railway journal . DETAIL VIEW OF THE SWITCHBOARD FROM OPPOSITE END,SHOWING ARRANGEMENT OF APPARATUS switchboard equipment, as well as the generators, was sup-plied by the General Electric Company. STATION RECORDSThe power taken on the motor-driven side of each machine inthe power plant is measured by means of a recording watt-meter; this arrangement is carried out throughout the measuring of all station circuits permits this local energyto be eliminated from the total output, and it accounts for much of the so-called unaccounted for energy. The costs in thisstation can be checked up every day, for coal consumed, waterpumped, water used, condensation returned, temperature offeed-water, total output for railway, light and power depart-ments, watt-hours required for exciting, for running rotary, for running coal and ash machinery, for pumping, etc., VIEW OF THE SWITCHBOARD FROM THE RAILWAY FEEDERPANEL END, SHOWING MOTOR GENERATOR IN BACKGROUND. This power station energy is thus made a part of the cost perkw-hour at the switchboard, instead of being metered in theusual manner as part of the total output, and finally appearingin the mysterious unaccounted for current account shown bythe difference between the station and customers meters. As above stated, the front of the second story over the aux-iliary room is the engineers room or office. It is very con-veniently arranged with desk facilities, and also has a bathroom attached. This room is provided with a cabinet drawingtable for plans, etc., and the several registering meters abovementioned are located there, consisting of a recording pressuregage on the high-pressure steam header, a recording thermome-ter on heaters giving feed-water temperature, a recording pres-sure gage on the exhaust header, recording voltmeter, etc. Allof the recording gages were supplied by the Bristol C
