Rapid maturity, absence of dark pin-feathers, and a blocky little frame quickly filled out, has made it possi- ble to place a meaty morsel on the market at twelve weeks. As a winter la}'er it equals the other varieties of the Wj'andottes, and has been bred extensively by the fancy, who have been working hard to retain the yellow legs and skin while breeding out the creamy tinge in the plumage. Plumage—White. THE BUFF WYANDOTTE The Buff Wyandotte is one of the most recent productions in the W3-andotte class, and the demand for it has increased very rapidl}-. It has the same advantage of color as that claimed for the Buff Plymouth Rock. Like the other Wyandottes, it ma- tures quickly, and is being extensively tried for broil- ers. It makes a good winter layer. The black and white in wings and tail will take some years to breed out, but perhaps this lends addition- al zest to the pursuit by the fancier. Plumage—Golden buff. PARTRIDGE WYANDOTTE This variety, with its cou- sin, the Silver Penciled Wyandotte, is the most re- cent addition to the Wvan- andotte class. Its plumage is similar to that of the Par- tridge Cochin, a much older breed. Being a new breed, there is of caurse some diffi- culty in breeding it up to standard requirements. THE WHITE LEGHORN The White Leghorn is identical in size and shape with the Brown; it lays just as well, but the eggs are larger as a rule. More of these birds are being bred for laying pur- poses than in former j'ears. Many of them are used as a cross on the larger varieties to produce broilers, but this method has not been commonly adopted. The creamy shade of the plumage invades this variety, as it
