The Basilica of Constantine or Aula Palatina is a roman palace basilica, built by Emperor Constantine in the 4th century AD. Originally used as a throne hall, during Middle Ages it served as residence for the bishop of Trier. In the 18th century it was incorporated in the Prince-electors Palace. Nowadays it is a Protestant church and it is protected under the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) world heritage law.
