Valmet 890 Forwarder at Snaizeholme off Widdale Timber plantation, Hawes in the North Yorkshire Dales, UK

"The remote moorlands in the Yorkshire Dales were an obvious location for the planting of these commercial forests, alongside vast tracts of upland Wales and Scotland. In the Greenfield plantations in Upper Wharfedale there is the largest commercial forest in Northern England. Alongside Greenfield is Cam Fell Forest, and issues around the route of the timber waggons clearing Cam were the subject of a debate last year at the Area Committee. It strongly supported a weight limit on the grounds of keeping open highway access, potential highway damage, and pedestrian safety, to prevent these huge 44 ton lorries using the route down off Fleet Moss between Upper Wensleydale and Upper Wharefedale. Widdale, standing either side of the B6255 between Hawes and Ingleton, in the Upper Dales, has a number of substantially sized forests on both sides of its valley, and their clearance is causing a number of issues"
