Poland, Warsaw: St Casimir’s church of the Benedictine Nuns of Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Sacrament.
Church of the Benedictine Nuns of Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Sacrament dedicated to St Casimir. The church was designed by Tylman of Gameren, raised between 1688 and 1692, devastated in 1944 and reconstructed in 1949-55. The Old Town complex includes medieval buildings and fortifications - the Royal Castle, The Royal Square, St John’s cathedral, St Mary’s church, the monastery and the church of St Casimir, the city walls and the Barbican. All these objects were completely destroyed by the Germans during the Second World War and rebuilt after 1945. The whole Old Town complex has been on the UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites since 1980.
