Illuminated Gothic Towers and the Clock of St. Mary's Church in Gdansk
Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gdansk is the largest brick church in the world. It is m long and 66 m wide. Gdansk is a 1000-year old city lying on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea. The historic old city of Gdansk suffered large-scale destruction at the hands of the Soviet Army during WW II, in 1945. A significant part of it with most landmarks has been meticulously rebuilt after the war. During the communist period, several times Gdańsk was the scene of anti-regime demonstrations which finally led to the downfall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe. Nowadays Gdansk is a modern city with booming economy, as well as a very popular tourist destination for tourists from all over the world.
