On the edge of the lower arm the engraved inscription "Hand d. von Hindenburg - Lötzen 1915 - St. Cauer". In January 1915 there were strong disagreements between Hindenburg and Emperor Wilhelm II regarding necessary troop assignments to the eastern front.
